What this is

A multi-column hardware compatibility matrix for the MCS-78xx appliance hardware platform that Cisco shipped before CUCM moved to virtualized UCS-based deployments. Lists per-platform BIOS, RAID firmware, SCSI controller firmware, ILO firmware versions against VOS (Voice OS) versions 2000.2.7 through 2003.1.5.

Why it's not relevant to Bingham's CUCM 15

  • MCS-78xx hardware is end-of-life and end-of-support. Last sale dates were ~2010-2012. By CUCM 11/12, deployment moved to virtualized UCS C-series.
  • CUCM 15 is virtualized on BE6000/BE7000 appliances or UCS — there is no MCS hardware in the supported deployment matrix.
  • Operating system reference here is VOS 2000.x/2003.x (Cisco's Linux-based appliance OS at the time). CUCM 15 runs the modern VOS Linux release, with a different version family entirely.

Where to find current CUCM 15 hardware compatibility

The canonical reference is now Cisco's UC Virtualization Supported Hardware page (HTML, not xls), which lists supported UCS / BE-series hardware, ESXi/HyperFlex compatibility, and VM specs.

When this file *might* still matter

Only if you discover Bingham has any legacy MCS-78xx hardware still running anywhere in the environment (extremely unlikely — they'd have been retired during the move to CUCM 11/12). If found, this file would be the reference for what BIOS/firmware versions were certified.

Source preservation

The original .xls file is committed alongside this index for archival purposes. Don't treat its contents as authoritative for any current deployment.
