What this is

A two-column matrix of MCS-78xx hardware platforms vs. Windows 2000 / Windows 2003 fresh-install support. Reflects the era when CUCM ran on Windows OS on MCS appliance hardware (pre-VOS Linux migration).

Sample rows:

Product ID OEM Model Win2k Win2k3
MCS-7815-1000 IBM xSeries 200 2000.2.4, 2000.2.6 N/A
MCS-7825-H1-IPC1 HP DL320-G3 2000.4.1b, 2000.4.3a, 2000.4.4, 2000.4.5 2003.1.1, 2003.1.2
MCS-7845-H2-IPC1 HP DL380-G5 Dual CPU 2000.4.4, 2000.4.5, 2000.4.6 2003.1.1–2003.1.5a

Why it's not relevant to Bingham's CUCM 15

  • CUCM moved off Windows entirely around CUCM 5 (~2006). CUCM 15 runs on Cisco's Linux-based VOS appliance OS only. No Windows host OS is supported or relevant.
  • MCS hardware is EOL/EOS — see hardware-compat/index.md for context.

Where to find current CUCM 15 OS / virtualization reference

Modern CUCM doesn't have a "host OS compatibility" question — the appliance ships its own OS. The relevant questions for CUCM 15 are:

  • VM hypervisor support: ESXi versions, HyperFlex, KVM — see Cisco's Collaboration Virtualization page
  • Underlying VOS version: shipped with CUCM 15; see CUCM 15 release notes
