When multiple endpoints are involved in a call, the security status of a call is determined by the least of the security status of all the endpoints involved in the call. Call Control and feature logic within Unified CM maintain the security status for the call. Currently, there are three values that can be passed to the device. The list below ranges from least secure to most secure. • NotAuthenticated—Indicates that the current connected call is not signaling authenticated. • Authenticated—Indicates that the current connected call is signaling authenticated. • Encrypted—Indicates that the current connected call is signaling encrypted. For supporting phones, Unified CM passes this status to the phone using the Call-Info header. In the absence of this header, the phone should assume a value of Unknown. Here is an example using the urn feature naming scheme where the feature is Call-Info and the security status is encoded as a generic parameter. Call-Info: urn:X-cisco-remotecc:callinfo; security= Authenticated In Unified CM releases, SIP endpoints could use this information along with local knowledge of the security of negotiated media to determine what level of security should be presented to the endpoint UI.
